Hi, I would really suggest that u get computer number 3, its really nice even though the monitor is separate and stuff. You will have buy a Windows Xp license separately and install that ur self. Just make sure u download all the drivers for ur hardware and stuff. If u want to save money for the Xp cd then get computer number 1, they r not that different. I think u will like Vista though just give it a shot at least before u downgrade ur computer to Xp. In other words if u like want to save money for an Xp cd then get computer 1. If u have enough cash then get computer number 3 and buy a really cool monitor with it. It also Vista Premium which is way better than Basic. PLEASE don't bother with computer 2, it sucks. I hope I helped.
Good Luck and take care!
Oh yeah one more thing don't ever get a Mac, it sucks. You will be paying a lot more for just an ugly Apple logo. OS X isn't that great and if u want security from viruses and stuff then install Linux. Linux has some great eye candy to u know all those 3d effects. You can check out some linux videos of beryl or compiz fusion on http://www.youtube.com
If u have any questions about Linux then just ask on Yahoo or if u want u can ask me directly.
Take care again.

The specs on #3 are the best. #2 is the worst.
In order to install Xp you will have to purchase a license for XP and run the install which will remove everything that Dell puts on it as default. It is also a good idea to make sure you have the drivers for XP fro the Dell website jsut in case.
If you are more adventurous you could also go for a dual boot setup which would allow you to use both OS's. This is another issue though but lots of info can be found on the web. Just search "dual boot Vista and XP"

If you have enough money, I would suggest going mac. From everything I've heard, Vista is a pain in the *** and most people are going back to XP. I personaly like OSX better than XP but if you have some software that only works with windows, you can buy an XP cd and loas the OS on your mac using free software downloadable at apple.com called BootCamp. It'll let you switch between XP and OSX at reboot. If you want to be able to acces XP faster, you can shell lout some more cash and buy Parallels which is an in OS Emulator which will run your version of Windows in one window of OSX. These twp processes can be done with most all OS's.
P.S. Where I wrote XP when talking about BootCamp, I meant to say Windows. Again BootCamp and Parallels can be used most all OS's i.e. Linux, Windows, ect.

The good choice is 3. Dell Inspiron Desktop PC (19974)
if u want windows vista get Home premium edition. but if u want windos XP u can either get them by ordering this OS when u order ur system, since dell allows u to chose ur own configuration and then place the order according to ur need. There slighter lower models in which u get windows xp, so find out on their site.

Call up the vendor ans make sure they do replace Windows Vista with Windows XP or whichever you like. Otherwise, your money will be spent for nothing. Microsoft's EULA has some such provisions. So, read it carefully and cite it to the vendor. They shouldn't be able to refuse you your choice.
However, if I were you, I would choose a computer that came with FreeDOS or Linux and install my favourite Linux distribution on it.
The HP one and the 3rd choice looks good enough.

Not crazy about the monitor being sold separately, but the last one is most enticing.
