Is it the same as in undergrad, where they squeeze 4 people in a small room and have one bathroom/shower per 20 people?

A few schools have dorms for a few grad students (and I don't know of any school which has dorms like you describe even for undergrads - other than suites, most only have a maximum of two students per room), but the vast majority of grad students live off campus. A lot are married and have families, so they really can't live in dorms, and the others have often been living on their own in apartments for a while before going back to grad school, so living in a dorm would not be a very good move.

uh, i don't know where you are, but most grad schools in the states don't really have dorming. you're pretty much expected to get an apartment or a house.
