No. The Bering Strait is a large body of water. You're confusing the current Bering Straight with the land bridge that existed over the Bering Strait during the Ice Ages.

Yuk Yuk!!
There actually was a Bering Strait Bridge at one time - in prehistoric times - and it is believed that the earliest settlers to what is now North America crossed from Mongolia through Russia and down into the Interior of North America.

A man walking along a California beach was deep in prayer when all of a sudden he said aloud, "Lord grant me one wish". The sky clouded and a booming voice said, "Because you have tried to be faithful I will grant you one wish." The man said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over anytime I want to."
The Lord answered, "Your request is very materialistic. Think of the logistics of that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time to think of another wish, a wish you think would honor and glorify me".
The man thought for a long time and finally said, "Lord, I wish that I could understand women. I want to know what they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment, why they cry, what they mean when they say 'nothing', and how I can make a woman truly happy?"
After a few minutes God said, "How many lanes did you want on that bridge?"

Yes because you are entering and exiting a country...America has never really been on good terms with Russia since well since forever so there would more than likely be border control and a customs check just like there is between the U.S. and Canada and the U.S. and Mexico

Yes, it would. Actually, when the sea is frozen in the winter, you CAN walk across. It is only a few miles between Big & Little Diomead (sp?).
One MAJOR reason it would require customs is because of the availability of marijuana in the arctic & sub-arctic. It grows VERY well during the summer. (I lived there for 16 years.) Another reason is just the black market in general. Items such as blue jeans, chewing gum, deodorant, and american cigarettes are HOT items on the Soviet Black Market.

Actually there has been a bridge there several times. Usually it has been destroyed by icebreakers shortly after its creation.
Maybe if you go on up to Little Diomedes Island and wait some, another one will form this winter. Bring a nice warm coat.

Absolutely! If you could come across from a foreign nation and end up in America, there would definitely need to be Customs on hand.

It would have to be thirty miles long over some treacherous water. I doubt it would be practical.
