...initiative 747 last week. The court by a 5 to 4 decision said voters did not understand the contents of I-747. Did not understand it??? We voted it in so property taxes would be capped at 1% annually. Our SC judges in effect said that "Washingtonian's are to stupid to think for themselves"! Is this the height of elitism/arrogance or what folks! Were not only the fifth highest taxed state in the nation, we've now been informed that some counties in Washington will see a 20% property tax increase! Rep. John Ahern, republican Spokane, represents our sixth district & he informed us about this "little" temper tantrum our socialist judges pulled on us. Is any one else getting abused in there states by power hungry bought & paid for judges???

Schmorge, "KXLY reported that one county in Washington plans to raise property taxes by 20%"...I QUOTED THE ABOVE form the Spokesman-Review, November 16th Friday, 2007 edition. It's found on page B7 in the far right column under the heading..."Act now to stop property tax hikes.

I was with you until you started talking about socialists judges.. so I went and looked it up and you are wrong.

They threw the case out because the wording was ambigious and incorrectly led voters to believe the tax was going from 2% to 1% when in reality it was going from 6% to 1%.

Now you might say that doesn't matter but it does when you are passing legislation. Legislation is like reading someone their rights. If the wording is incorrect or leaves something out.. especially on purpose, it is thrown out.

Don't fret... all that needs to be done is the wording corrected then revote. It's not a big deal. Live and learn from mistakes.

Here's what I like to call a "link" to some "facts":
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004001841_webi74708m.html

First of all, this idiot Tim Eyman has been putting inane crap like this on the docket for years now. His last one was something about no tax increases without voters' majority. As if the state legislature is elected just to sit there.

Read the Times (hardly a liberal paper) article and you will see the truth. The voters were not misled because they were stupid, they were misled because they were asked to amend a law that had been repealed.

And this tax increase? Who said that? When? In what publication? Does it hurt when you pull things out of your butt like that?

B7 of the Spokesman-Review last friday is the opinion page, genius! You pulled it out of someone else's butt! Opinion differs from fact in that opinion need not be backed up with evidence. Read the letters on the same page. You'll see plenty of opinion, few facts.

Why should the voters of the whole state make rules about how much local communities can tax themselves? Shouldn't each community decide if they want such a rule? Or does the state of Washington levy property taxes so the rule must be uniform across the whole state?

Geeze, bro. California passed a Proposition 187, attempting to control the flood of people who enter the state illegally. That was years ago. Judges dumped that one, too.

I hope your property is not in a good location for a Costco; judges decided that the government can snag it if it can make more tax revenue.

So much for "The Rule of Law."

Methinks the Republic is sick. Let us know when it's dead. Then we'll be legally obligated to dump tea overboard.

Power hungry bought and paid for socialist judges - a pretty serious accusation.

This may surpise many people here, but simply winning a vote does not make a law constittutional. Judicial review exists because people may get swetp up in passion and pass laws which are capricious.

WASHINGTON IS A LIBERAL HAVEN, THATS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU LIVE IN A LIBERAL NUTHOUSE, YOU GET A "DON'T WORRY WE WILL THINK FOR YOU AND RAISE YOUR TAXES" MENTALITY
