lol thats so funny that you asked this.
One time I was sitting at a diner with my friends. We were all regulars there, meaning we were there all the time. Knew all the workers and regular customers. Well, there was this older man there in his late 60's. We were talking about seafood. I asked him if he liked bearded clams. He said "oh yes I like clams" I said ."tell Lisa ( a waitress) that you want to try some of the bearded clams here. Hes hard of hearing therefore he talks loud, he yells across the counter.." Lisa Id like to have a platter of bearded clams" the whole diner cracked up. He laughed too but didnt know why he was laughing, Someone then gets out of their seat and tells him what it was he orderd. He about fell off his stool laughing so hard...lololol I still laugh about it

How insightful. I certainly wouldn't cook a bearded clam, and I wouldn't know how to go about it even if I were interested. I guess I'm not sure what "raw" is a euphemism for, since it's already implied in the term "bearded clam" that it would have nothing to do with the absence of hair.
