Would the Longhorns have a chance to play in it, if they beat the Aggies next Friday?

Man college football is crazy this year!

OU beats OSU, they're in no matter what Texas does.

If OU loses and Texas wins, the Longhorns go.

If OU and Texas both lose, there's a three-way tie between OU, OSU, and Texas. Each will be 1-1 vs. the other two, which means you go to the next tie-breaker, which is division record. Texas would be 3-2 vs. the South, OU would be 3-2, and OSU would be 3-2. So the next tiebreaker is record vs. teams in order below them. Texas Tech is #4 (4-4, which A&M would have the same record if they beat Texas, but Tech beat A&M), and both OSU and Texas beat them while OU lost to them. That eliminates OU and since Texas beat OSU, Texas would go.

So, to sum it all up, the result of the Texas-Texas A&M game is actually meaningless. If OU wins, they go. If they lose, Texas goes, win or lose.

Found this on a Kansas fan site from last year. I'm assuming it's still the correct procedure. Football Tie-Breaker The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie: (a) If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative; Three teams tied… (b) If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative. 1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other; 2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division; 3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish - 4, 5 and 6; 4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents; 5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular-season (intra-) conference play shall be the representative; 6. The team with the best overall winning percentage shall be the representative; 7. The representative will be chosen by draw. So, if Tech beats Texas and OU beats Tech and none of them lose to anyone else, all finishing at 7-1, it's going to come down to the final BCS poll before the title game.

What the others say is true...right now in Conference play, both OU an UT have 2 losses, but since OU beat UT at the Red River Shoot Out, OU has the advantage if both teams win next week.

On an interesting note, last year with 2 games left before the Big 12 championship, UT with a one game lead over OU plus the head to head advantage, lost the final 2 games, first to Kansas State and then to Texas A&M, to allow OU to play in the Big 12 championship. Then, McCoy, ofcourse, got injured in the first quarter against Kansas State, and backup QB couldnt come up with a win. Now, with two games left and OU with a one game lead and a head to head advantage over UT, OU drops the first one after Bradford gets injured in the 1st quarter. It would be ironic if OU loses to OSU and UT beats A&M hence UT going to the Big 12 championship game.

Me being a UT fan, I do hope that OSU beats OU and UT beats A&M.

Your right. It has been a crazy year for college football!!!!
Prediction that I have is Kansas is going to beat Missouri and then go and play Texas in the Big 12 title game. Then Kansas will beat Texas and Kansas will go and play LSU in the National Championship game. Its a long shot but I'm rooting for Kansas right now. Not my team in College Football but they showed that they can go and beat some good teams this year...

If OU wins out, they will represent the south. They have the tie break by beating Texas. They will be playing the winner of the missouri/kansas game.

maybe. OU beat them already so they hold the tiebreaker. unless somehow Oklahoma State would beat OU and Texas won next week. then Texas will play against the winner of Kansas/Mizzouri.

If OU beats OSU, then OU plays the KU/Mizzu winner. If OSU beats OU, then Texas will play if they beat A&M. OU holds the head to head tiebreaker against Texas.

OU would have to get beat by OK State next week and Texas would have to win... Texas lost to OK and it's a heads up match that counts if there is a tie...
