yea i hav a compac computer and its about 10 years old but its worked good then this summer i updated it from windows 98 to ME which was good then tonite i insatlled my dvd/cd burner and now it says operating system not found press any key to try again help me plz.

Sounds like your slave and master switch isn't set properly.
Check your dvd user guide (Make sure it's compatible with ME).
The guide will tell you how to set the jumper switch on your drive.
Boot up into CMOS (Usually press the DEL key while booting.) From there check to see if your computer is recognizing your drives.

You might have messed up the BIOS (or not changed it appropriately). It's probably better to take the computer to a professional before you potentially do any more damage. It gets to a certain point where the computer is just so old that it's better to get a new one.

i think u u might have loosed the cable to the harddrive. check the grey ribbon cable and the power cable.
