why, when I am on the computer for anytime from 30 minutes to 3 hours, does my computer shut off completely. I could be in the middle of a game or an email and it completely shuts down and turns itself off.

Any answers will help. Thanks.
Also, is there something that I can do to fix the problem or will I have to take it somewhere... It's my laptop.

Sounds like it's overheating...computers have a built in safe-guard that when the processor gets too hot it shuts itself off. Make sure the fans are working properly, and that the heat vents aren't being covered (by your knee perhaps?)

Most likely it' over heating. Which is kind of strange with todays technology. Have you added any new peripherals lately? They could pulling too much juice.
Is your computer in a confined space? Are the air vents blocked? Remove the cover and run it like that for a few days. If it doesn't crash then you know it's not getting enough air circulating through it. You can then either move the computer away from anything thats blocking the circulation or have some one install a more powerful fan/cooler

check you don't have it on an auto power off after 30 minutes. You know the way screen savers come on after a certain time? Well you have a setting to make the laptop turn off after a certain time- maybe you activated it???

it's over heating or ur power supply is going bad. heat is caused by dust or the puter being in a small place.
