Computer help?

I have a micro SD card and it worked until recently. whenever i plug the adapter in, which plugs into a slot in the front of my compaq computer called the MMC/SD, it wont work and my computer does'nt even even recognize its there, any idea of how to fix it? {P.S it occasionally works if i turn the computer off and on}

that card might be dead. i have two like that. flash cards go down when expose to heat or static.

Could be the reader . Could be the card. I'd try the card on a different reader , or , try a cheaper card on that reader.
