speed does not determine how well a person serves. roddick serves the ball 140+ mph but will never out ace Sampras or Federer.
that being said, i would have to go with jimmy Connors. maybe not as fast as venus, but his combination of speed, placement, and various speeds is what makes it a superior serve.

It depends. If you are just comparing first serves, then Venus Williams. But if you are comparing combined first and second serve, then I'd have to go with Jimmy Connors. Venus Williams first serve is as good as most of the male players and better that some, but her second serve is very weak and inconsistent compared to her ATP counterparts.
Venus Williams could serve faster than Lleyton Hewitt and Andre Agassi, but she couldn't out ace either of them and she would have more double faults than both of them. The same would likely be true if you compared her to Jimmy Connors.

gannoway, Being the ultimate James Scott Connors fan I am, I'll say Jimmy even if he doesn't. I'd like to see the 2 play like Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King back in '73 when she beat him in 3 straight sets. That was a sad day for men's sports. Hope this helped.

keep in mind Connors' Wilson T-2000 weigh 400 grams and only 78 sq. in.
different era, different technology, different result.

the real question is why would anyone compare a great tennis player like connors with a jackass like dizzy venus//// besides her serves are just lucky shots////
