Oh dear, another free thinking, compassionate, loving Christian come to visit.

To be honest with you, the only yardstick you have available by which to judge homosexuality is a Bronze Age document that says more about this historical social prejudices of Jews and later Christians and how those prejudices were then shaped into the concept of a being called God.

If you took the time to look around the natural world - the one with plants and animals in it - you would notice that homosexual behaviour is widespread throughout the animal kingdom. It's far more natural than you probably realise and at all levels of the animal kingdom, including humans.

Reading your statement - it's not really even a question - I doubt you've really done much thinking about this matter at all; it reads like the kind of thing you've probably been hearing all your life in church as they've filled you with Christian compassion and tolerance.

Personally I am heterosexual, but if someone finds love and happiness then I say that they have the right to live without judgment from me or anyone else. I have been told that it isn't a choice and that it is the way they were born, and quite frankly I doubt they would choose something that would make their lives so difficult. I cannot imagine how it must feel to have people constantly saying how I am such a sinner and all of the other things people say.

P.S. It was cool to see how many answers appeared in the time I was typing my answer. Seriously, you don't have to understand someone's choices. I would love to see people be more accepting of others without wanting people to conform to their own norm.

P.S.S. For those of you who say that being gay is a sin and mention the bible, maybe you should read a little more closely. How about 'He who is without sin, cast the first stone'? What about the fact that Jesus spent time with the sinners and said that the healthy do not need a physician? What about where we are told to turn the other cheek? If you are going to quote the bible, then live it! Show love not hate, and if you turn out to be right (that it is a choice), perhaps you can lead someone back to your God!

Well I mean basically I like girls, so that's how I'm gay?

How can you be so judgmental, when you know that only God should and can judge? Are you against eating shrimp? If you're against homosexuality, you should be against eating shrimp as well. You can't pick and choose what parts of the Bible to follow. Either you follow it all word for word, or you realise that it is a basic guideline, and that things change in the world.

You may want to work on being a little more understanding and accepting before you go around using God as your backup.

Hi,
Who knows? Some people are born with attraction to same sexes. I myself don't fully understand the concept, but every religion is different (for example: Christians are not supportive and the congregational church is open and accepting) It is really a matter of opinion. Being gay may be a choice when people have a bad experience with the other sex so therefore have hate for them.
Hope this has helped.

1) I don't care if you're against it. We're here. Deal.

2) Christians are the ones that are hung up on it being a "sin", and not even all Christians agree that it IS a sin in the first place. Many other religions accept it just fine, thanks.

3) There are plenty of animals that exhibit homosexual behavior, so I'm afraid your argument falls flat there too.

4) Most gay people will tell you that they no more chose to be gay than you chose to be heterosexual.

Wow, you're not doing very well at this, are you?

Why would you come to this site if you are so anti gay? If something made me sick I would normally avoid it. You reading all the questions and answers gets you a little hot, doesn't it? Admit it and go find someone of the same gender as you and come out already! God wouldn't let us feel these things if it was wrong. God didn't send down the Bible written in His hand. Humans wrote it to govern society. While some of the rules are good to keep order, it is not the ultimate rule book to get into Heaven. Read the history of its making. Read the history of the Catholic church. Every religion is written to govern the weak by someone in power to rule. The biggest way to rule people is through fear of the unknown. Do you honestly think the billions of people born before it was written to follow those rules are going to hell because they weren't saved? The only rule humans should follow is what's in their hearts. As long as you aren't hurting anyone it's no ones business what you do or how you live to God.

You are entitled to your opinion, however wrong it may be. It is a choice? What makes you trhink so? It is against what God ( by the way, nice disrespect with the lower case g in God) has created? Well, unless you are God, then you don't really know that do you.It is against the laws of nature? You kiding? The laws of nature have to do with science, not sexuality. Nice try. Next time try harder.

Wow, a lot of people seem to like pointing out closed mindedness whilst being closed minded. People with different opinions don't necessarily need to be insulted even if their opinion seems ill informed. That said, I don't think that it is a choice. Here's some food for though, do you choose to be attracted to men? I know that I didn't choose to be attracted to women. I just am. I can't help it. Obviously no one would choose to be part of a persecuted minority and that fact seems, at least to me to further prove that it is not a choice. I think the most important thing is for everyone be respectful of other viewpoints so that we can talk about this civilly without getting distracted by anger. That means don't tell people off for their views and don't label others as sinners.

Peace

umm ok...ur live a totaly sheltered life
1. it is NOT!!!!! a choice
when did u choose to be str8???
why would be choose to face/risk:
Mom and Dad will being disappointed in me.
Mom and Dad throwing me out of the house.
Dad may disown me.
Mom will blaming the friends I hang out with so I can never bring them home with me.
my friends may be so sickened that they abandon me.
be called names like "******", "queer", and "pervert".
getting beat up or maybe killed by gay bashers.
Mom and Dad being deeply ashamed of me.
My church calling me an "abomination before God" and abandon me.
God hating me and send me to hell forever.

it is apart of who we are...like my brown/blonde hair and blue/green eyes...and all those ex-gay's are just in denial and those who have 'success' all have horrible child hoods which make u think well duh there all screwed up

and who are u to say that it is against god or nature??

u have a/c at ur place u use a car?
those are against nature
and religion...pfft
the bible is a contradictory 2000 year old book that people have warp and distorted over the years...

Leviticus is part of the Mosaic Laws in the Bible which are all but ignored in modern society and according to the Bible itself were rescinded by Jesus himself. Anyone familiar with the famous Dr Laura Letter will know many of these laws:

• Planting Two Crops in the same field (Leviticus 19:19)
• Wearing Garments made of two different fibers (Leviticus 19:19)
• Contact with a female during her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Leviticus 15:19-24)
• Touching the Skin of a Dead Pig (Leviticus 11:6-8)
• Male having a haircut - especially having the hair around the temples cut (Leviticus 19:27)
• Wearing glasses or afflicted with pimples, acne or excema etc. (Leviticus 21:20)
• Curse, Blaspheme or otherwise take the lords name in vain (Leviticus 24:10-16)
• Eat Shellfish (inclusive of prawns, crabs, lobster etc) (Leviticus 11:10)

yet the same section has
You shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

so maybe you should think before you say things like that
ive done my research maybe you should do urs.

BTW...all mankind is sinners. We are to repent of our sin (meaning stop doing the offending behavior) ask for forgiveness and we will be forgiven. I am in no position to judge anyones sinful behavior.
