so why the big fuss about an isolated incident in five years of conflict? The truth is without the draft we need Blackwater, triple canopy, and KDR to fill the manpower gap that cannot be filled with draftees from the general public.

They make a ridiculous amount of money, but it is cheaper than drafting and training thousands of new troops. will you thank a blackwater merc tonight for doing your "share" of the fighting in Iraq?

I am a marine so I am above the frey on this one

I am serving, I am above the frey to all of you who are not, or have never served this applies to "you"..........not me, I am doing my part, and the blackwater boys are doing theirs, what gives you the right to judge them, and oppose the draft?

What military job is Black Water filling ?

Black Water was hired by the State Department to augument the State Departments own Diplomatic Security Services.

Without Black Water, the State Department would have to hire more Diplomatic Security Personal.

So where does the military come into the mix ?

The military doesn't guard diplomats, they never have.

Thats why the State Department has a Diplomatic Security Service.

Why do people think companies like Black Water or triple Canopy are mercenaries ??

Do they not know what a mercenary is ?

Mercenaries carry out military operations,

Black Water and Triple Canopy do NOT carry out military operations.

They guard diplomats.

.
Next thing ya know, people are gonna start calling groups like UNCEF mercenaries, because the military doctors could provide those services.

The Secret service is armed, they guard the president, does that make them mercenaries too ?

They aren't in the military, now are they ?

A better question is why are 25% of military families on food stamps, while a mercenary is making more money in a month than an enlisted man makes in a year?

Try sitting out in the desert on your 4th tour and you HAVE to be there while some merc only has to serve 60 days and then gets to go home for a months vacation and on top of that he can leave anytime he wants while if you try to leave you get branded a deserter. Does't seem fair to me.

Just because u are a marine does not mean u are "above the frey". they can't do a draft because they know this war is illegal. and they will take any help they can to keep control of Iraq. even if it calls for people who committ crimes while helping. and u say they make a ridiculous amount of money, u are okay with that? u serve your country legitimately and do it in honor. but you are okay with a bunch of thugs helping the govt. and they make way more money than u do? personally i would be pissed if i was a marine. but anyway everyone has their opinions. i was supposed to go to the marines after highschool but i changed my mind because i saw what direction this war was going in. we are not leaving Iraq any time soon.

Blackwater agents are employed as bodyguards for diplomats. They're not engaged in combat. You would know that if you were really a marine.

if you hiked the recruitment bonuses with HALF the money you're speding on Blackwater and Co... you would get enough recruits...

and I've heard multiple horror stories from both the media and regular soldiers...

Snake eating its tail on this one. You put it very well. Blackwater *is* a necessary evil, because we made it so.

Even visiting diplomats and Iraqis themselves use Blackwater to travel anywhere in Baghdad.

Bush also likes a private Army he can pay with using American $$$. You never know when he may need them in the US. Shows they can kill un-armed citizens with ease.
