My mom recently passed me down her classical guitar (she doesn't know anything about guitar). I wanted to try classical guitar out so I went to the local guitar store and they gave me this La Bella guitar strings and I don't know how to replace them. I dont want to take it in cause they charge money for replacements. My guitar had 5 strings but 1 was broken and we took that and a normal one out. How do i replace the strings.

Match the new string to the old one. Make sure they are the same size. All 5 strings will be different. Just reverse what you did to take out the old string. Do NOT tighten the new strings a lot at first. Just snug them up until they make a tone when you strum it. Then let it set a few hours or overnight. Then you can start tuning all of the strings. If you don't know how to do that you may need to pay for some help unless you have a friend that knows how. Otherwise you can permanently damage the guitar or at least ruin the new strings.

I would only add a couple of things to Berts explanation...
The strings will be longer than needed, you will have to clip some off (wait til you have it near what you want tho)
And, that most 'modern' strings have a loop or some other form of retainer at one end, and not the other.

Here is a link to a search I pulled up... video clips in the 'how to' section of YouTube... all about how to change guitar strings...electrical, acoustic, etc... there are quite a few there, you should be able to find something similar to yours.
