What's a glumfish? I'm reading Salman Rushdie's "Haroun and the Sea of Stories" and he describes the setting as a sea being filled with glumfish. Are they made up or actually real?

It is made up. That was a very clever way to make me answer that question. I was immediately intrigued. I must copy that technique. Although, since I believe he is describing a sad place in the beginning (right? I haven't started reading it yet) glum fish = fish that are glum. Glum = sad. Cool connection, huh?

They are made up. I have searched the whole Internet after reading that book. I couldn't seem to find anything neither in English nor in other languages.

Ps: You know how to get attention, don't you?

I think it's just something he made up for his children's book. Later on, he talks about Plentimaw ("plenty more"?) fish, Gogogol and Kafkafka!

You really got my attention with that question... :)

I looked it up and it doesn't seem to be a real word. It's probably made up unless I am completely wrong....then disregard my answer...

It's probably a slang name for a fish we know by a different name.
