The smell is normal. It's just basically the blood hitting the oxygen.

Schoolmates might be able to smell it, but as long as you change your pad regularly, it shouldn't be a problem.

If you use a tampon, you shouldn't smell as much as if you were using a pad, the tampon keeps everything inside of you until you pull it out.

Will blood leak out to your underwear or pants while you're wearing a tampon? It can if it's not in properly. I usually wear a pantyliner just in case.

The smell is normal, unless someone is sticking their nose up your crotch they won't notice it. It's not THAT strong. You notice it because it's YOUR body. It's less smelly with a tampon, blood will not leak onto your underwear or pants with a tampon. But don't defy your mother I'm assuming this is your first period. You should use pads for a little while so you can get a little more used to your body changes. Then when both you and your mom feel your comfortable enough you can shove that piece of cotton up your vagina :D

The smell is normal. It is just the "dead blood", so to speak. I doubt people will notice, but they might. I would advice using baby powder on the creases of your inner thighs, deoderant (i know it sounds strange), or a nice smelling body spray. It isn't that strong of a smell so you shouldn't be too worried. With tampons, it won't smell normally. The blood will not leak unless you don't change it for a long time and it fills up. Always change atleast between 4 to 6 hours, less if it fills up faster. Don't leave it in for over 8 hours.

Yes, there is often a little smell associated with menstruation. Many pads and tampons come with deodorant to cover up the smell. If you change your pad more often it won't smell as much. Other people will probably not notice because they won't get that close to the source of the smell.

Yes, tampons do sometimes leak. I usually use pantiliners with tampons for that reason.

Ok first of all when you use pads yes you do smell. And yes people will probably notice the smell. If you use tampons you don't smell. And no blood wont leak as long as you change the tampon when it needs to be changed. Tampons are really amazing. You will never want to wear a nasty disgusting pad ever again.
