* Associates
* Bachelor's
* First Professional (MD, JD, DVM, etc..)
* Master's (MA, MS, MBA, MFA, MEd, etc..)
* Specialist (education)
* Doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc...)
Some people list the academic (MA, MS) and professional (MBA, MEng, MPH,...) master's separately with the academic higher in the college but the professional higher in business.
Many academics feel that the PhD is the highest doctorate. Holders of other doctorates don't always agree.
Many people place the First Professional degree immediately below the academic doctorate and above the master's. Reality though is that when a doctor or lawyer returns to school after his JD or MD to get more education, he gets a master's degree (MPH, MSc, LLM).
