The white spots are a vitamin deficiency. You can track how long ago you had a day or two when you didn't eat properly by how far from the cuticle the spots are.
Follow the food guide, and/or take a multivitamin.

i say, you should just cut it first. no matter how longit is, JUST CUT IT. then you should drink TONS of water and milk, and eat more carbohydrates. and then more calcium, which is milk like i said, and ice cream too, i guess!
