Why, is "Buk" still giving you a hard time? "BROTHERS".....what can you do? Slap that "pantless man" along the side of his head with that damn sausage, and tell him to....shut it !!

I HAD the blessing of my family to marry someone that I thought hung the moon and my family thought that too. Turns out the joke was on all of us and I realized after other failed relationships that I was all too worried about pleasing my family and doing what's "Right". Now...older and wiser I realize that while your family is important, the person you end up with should be what YOU want because once you have found yourself...YOU are the only person who can know who or what you need. Now,I'm just living in sin with my other half...unmarried and happier than I've ever been in my whole life.

It would depend on WHY my brother/family didn't give me their blessing. If it was something stupid, like the color of his skin, I'd totally ignore them....if, on the other hand, they had legitimate concerns, I would listen to their opinions, assess the situation with an open mind and see if their judgments were correct, and act accordingly. This is because I trust and love my family and I know that they want what is best for me. I have a great family--we look out for each other. If I came from a rotten family who couldn't care less about me, however, I'd flat out ignore them and set the date for my wedding.

First of all, I love and respect my family. I would not bring anyone into that family who would not do the same or who would in any way harm us. Having said that, my family respects and trusts me in turn and does not tell me what to do (and so they shouldn't at my age!) even though our ideals and tastes may be very different.
Up to present, although there have been various relationships, there has never been anyone I considered "the love of my life" and wanted to marry so, if at my time of life there WERE to be, I think my family would acknowledge that fact and trust my judgement and my wishes. I do believe that communication and discussion is better than argument and that alienation from one's family in such circumstances is not necessary or desirable.

Sister I will adopt you and give you my blessing

I hope that you and good ole whats his name are very happy together.

Considering you have considered this all of eight or maybe ten minutes you should cut off your family

then I will be your new family

My brother would not object to anyone that I was going to marry, I'm not going to try to marry some one he didn't like because we appreciate the same qualities that I'd look for.

If I knew he was a good person and I believe my family to be wrong I surely would. I wouldn't worry if I were you, I have a feeling Buk will be there sausages and all. LOL.

Of Course! I would consider their reasoning for not giving me the blessing first and if it was not legitimate then of course I would.
