I like to be "asked nicely" and I ask politely of others.

I cannot stand people telling me what to do. If I am asked to do something I will do things for ya all day, but not just straight out telling me what to do. My old boss resigned almost a year ago and we got a new one. The first thing I told him, yes, told him, was that I do not like to be told what to do, but if ya ask me I will do what ever. I like to be in control pretty much.

depends on the situation. usually if the other person is more expert or experienced, i will find that i'd rather take their advice. however, if i am the more expert or experience in the subject, things will work out better if i have influence on them. that way everyone grows and learns. authority to tell others naturally comes out of knowing what is the right thing to tell them that will actually benefit them and the world. it's not as easy as you think. if you give bad instructions, people will stop following your directions. so make sure if you are in control that you exercise it competently.

If being told what to do is a team effort to benefit all concerned, then my roll is to also tell someone else what to do who is willing to follow through.

On the other hand...

If I'm being told what to do based on someone elses self serving interests and I see it as counter productive to what I want to accomplish, then it warrants my resistance.

I like people to tell me what to do or else I feel like I don't know what to do...then when i get home from work and school i like to tell everyone in my family what to do...lol.

If it is a class I am learning in, I do not mind being told what to do, that is what I am there for to learn what to do from them.

If it is a class I am teaching, I don't mind telling people what to do that is what they are there for to learn from me what to do.

But if it is government trying to control me and infringe on my freedom then no I do not like being told what to do.

I am hard headed, I do not like to tell people what to do per say... but they better listen to me if they know what is right..

depends, in school i like the teachers to tell me what to do, but at home, i wish i could tell people what to do.
