My favorite cool fact is that when you run a marathon as just a regular average runner (like at the Chicago Marathon, for example) you are running the same course on the same day during the same event as athletes who are setting world records. Marathon running is the only sport I can think of that average athletes can particiate with world-record holders in the exact same event. Way cool!
