The second largest volcanic eruption in the past century was from Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines on June 15, 1991.
Much weaker but still spectacular eruptions of ash occurred occassionally through early September 1991. From July to October 1992, a lava dome was built in the new caldera as fresh magma rose from deep beneath Pinatubo.
Since 1992, the volcano has been dormant.

Mount Pinatoubo - which is located in the Philippines (for those that don't know) has been dormant since 1992 - it last erupted in April 2, 1991.

Mt. Pinatouboa has been dormant for over 50 years since its last eruption on Jan. 15, 1954.
