Yes. It is still in your system because marijuana is a fat soluble drug. Go to http://norml.org/ for a great source of information on marijuana law and science. Don't forget to vote.

Every place I worked required drug testing as a condition for employment.

It really had nothing to do with the law. It was more along the lines of a dress code or an agreement not to leak trade secrets.

Failing a drug test meant immediate dismissal, it was understood by all and a zero tolerance policy was enforced.

The only place I would have been jailed or fined or both was the military. And I would have been fined, jailed, had my security clearance pulled and at the very least been administratively discharged with a less than honorable discharge. BTW, you probably wouldn't have wanted anyone doing my job to be involved with any drugs. Legally I couldn't take an aspirin without a doctor's approval. Yeah, it was that serious.

Yes, you can be fired for failing a drug test since it is a stipulation of your employment, that you're drug-free. The legality of the matter has nothing to do with where the drugs were done, just that they were done.

Grab a detox from GNC, flush your system, and it shouldn't be a problem.

You didn't take the drug test in Amsterdam, you took it here, where it is possible to get fired for having it in your system.

You cannot be tested for drugs arbitrarily.
You cannot be prosecuted for failing a drug test.

But, you can be subject to American laws, as an American citizen, no matter where you are. I find that law unacceptable, but that is the law.

you just answered your own question...the reason is political. 2 seporate governing nations don't overlap eachother, while you're free to come and go between them, their laws don't accomidate for eachother. It's not illegal to have THC in you but it is illegal to be smoking...
