Use your faith in study of the bible, here is a great wisdom in both testaments and if you go searching for her not only will you find her but you will come to know God. That and your salvation. So I would direct you to Genesis and ask you to follow through to the last pages of Revelation. Not only will you learn ethics, but you will learn what happens when you don't have any ethics. A lot of unethical people are recorded in those books. You find out what happens to them. But you find what good those ethics are and how to approach them intelligently.

I believe that ethics are built by basing them on a Biblical foundation. The ten commandments given in the Bible a book most certainly written over 2000 years ago has been the mainstay of truth and holines, to those who wish to build a life on good ethics. Words such as Honor your mother and father, do not lie, do not cheat, do not steal, do not be envious of other, do not give false testimony, are rules that ensures peace and goodness to countries and nations.
There are not only "do not do's" but things we should do that are ethincal, Love your neighbor, give charitably, walk the extra mile, enjoy life, comfort those who are hurting.
Therefore in my life, I have chose to live my life based upon the ethical standard that has survived the centuries, I hope that I can attain these high standards, but if I fall short I know there is always forgiveness and the opportunity to do better.

One doesn't build one's ethic. That's done throughout one's childhood by whomever parents you as a child. Children learn little by little, as they grow up, whatever ethics they may have as adults from the people in their childhoods. That's one reason why parenting is so important. If one didn't learn to be ethical during childhood then he won't be an ethical adult.

You just do the best you can every day. You read and talk to people you respect and you try to learn from the mistakes you make and the mistakes you see others make. About two days before you die, you'll probably get the whole thing hammered out nice and neat, just the way you want it. Then two days after you die, you find out you didn't know a darn thing.

In life you get presented with challenges and lessons, you always have two choices, sometimes more than two, but your choices build your ethics, if you truly believe you have done the right thing in your choices and the way you handle situations and people, then your ethics are in tact, if you feel bad about the way you behave, then you are going against your ethics and should stop!

trial and error, and how you grow up.
exampe: babies have no ethic when they are first born. most often the way it is raised will show in its ethic. (babies raised in aztec culture sacrifice humans to gods; babies raised in old spain thought it was despicable.)
also, if they were raised to hit people and realized that when they hit people, people hit them back then they will decide to make it against thier ethic. but i guess that is also part of where you are raised, as it is really the other people hitting you, not the trial and error, that makes the decision...

Based on the inescapability of causes producing effects. I have lived long enough to see this in action and changed my patterns. It works. The difficulty for most people, and it was for me, is to rid oneself of the lie stream and well anchored delusions.

Yes, we as humans, need to work on our ethics, values and all virtues. But, we need to do this with the ultimate achievement of reawakening our relationship with God.
God, as the Supreme Being, is the example of all godly virtue. We see this demonstrated in His incarnations of which there are many varieties.
We need to therefore associate with God and His representatives in person and through the teachings handed down. We need to associate with God, the Supreme Being through glorifcation of His Holy Names.

as the months and years pass by, i once never saw my ethics pass by, so i suppose my ethic is intact. but life is funny, i think every day we build our ethics, every experience builds your own ethical account.
