It was a some what well made movie about racism and a black man being the scape goat for the rape of a white woman. When the book came out it had the same message as "A Raisin In The Sun" and several other books that people thought were intriguing because it dealt with segregation and integration. I liked it but I believe it was over rated. Good acting but the story could have written better. It really wasn't meant to have a message. Anything that Hollywood believes is taboo at the time will be made into movies. Right now its homosexuality. Tomorrow it may be illigeal aliens.

The message of To Kill a Mockingbird is that people often have prejudiced, incorrect opinions of people, which should be avoided by employing a method involving empathy and understanding. These discriminatory views are shown through several situations in the novel. One of these is the racism shown from the Anglo-Saxon people towards the African-Americans. This racism makes it difficult for the African-Americans to live in peace, as the Anglo-Saxons treat them without respect or consideration. Another example of an incorrect view in the novel is the view that the Finch children have developed of Arthur (Boo) Radley, from stories they have heard from their neighbours.

it extremely is my opinion the symbols i know are: Tom is a mockingbird, does no sins and in basic terms does good its a sin to kill a mockinng poultry and because they kiled Tom it became a sin to kill Tom, because of the fact of this each and every of the undesirable issues happend to the undesirable human beings, the e book needs to abbolish racism , do away with hate, it shows that one individual could make a distinction in society in spite of if the worldwide is agianst them, all of us could make a distinction or a transformation for the forged in the event that they attempt

The messages are many but the main one is "innocence lost" as well as "do not judge others" the last is not just for those who are colored but what they believe or choose to defend (ex. Atticus) Innocence lost is both Scout and her brother Jem. Going through the trial, and seeing everything happen, changed them and Jem especially was effected- he no longer was the innocent child he used to be.

I love that story. I think the main theme is people's preconceived notions about people they never really get to know. There is the main story about the man who is tried for murder, but there is the sub-story about Boo Radley next door who never got a fair shake from the neighbors because they never got to know him as a person.
Another good movie along the same lines is "12 Angry Men." I think the original is best.

how Innocence is lost....
hence the name "to kill a mockingbird" - the mockingbird symbolizes innocence - so in other words, "to kill innocence"
it can also show how being prejudice can be harmful...
different people look at it in different ways...you just have to find the theme that makes the most sense to you...
