The way I understand the asvab is you take it once and if you fail it you can take it again in 30 days and if you fail it the second time you can take it again in 30 days. If you fail it after the 3rd time you must wait 6 months to take it again. After that how does it work and how many times total are you allowed to take the asvab?

By the way I am not a good test taker. I know that some people are going to wonder why I asked such a question.

Thanks.

First, you can't "fail" the ASVAB - it's a vocational battery.

There are some minimum scores for certain services and certain jobs though. You may retake after 30 days once. After that you may retest after 180 days. You may do this forever.

You can't just retest though - you have to be able to show that there is some reason to expect a higher score, such as increased education or testing problems.

Let me say though - retesting once may raise your scores in some areas a small amount. This isn't the sort of test you can study for though so repeated retesting usually has no significant impact on your score unless there was a testing issue (you were sick, too tired, marking error, etc...)

If you score poorly twice, reconsider your career options.

Last time I took the ASVAB was once decades in the past. Asuuming that standards havent converted a lot, it was once that the Air Force had the strictest standards for uncooked ranking, of the entire branches. Marines had lowest standards. Understand this, approximately getting the task you desire: after your ASVAB, whilst you pass to the MEPS station to prefer a department/task, it's the recruiter's task to fill the positions that almost all humans might instead now not have, if that they had their alternative. For illustration, I acquired a ninety three% first time I took it, and the recruiter stated, "Ok, with a ninety three, you qualify for any task the Army has to present. Here's what I have: M1 tank turret repairer, laundry and bathtub expert, parachute fix expert...and infantry." Point being, they wont OFFER you the task you desire. If you qualify for the function you desire, and they do not have it to be had on the second they determine, you do NOT must take the primary task that comes alongside. Enlist within the not on time access application, so you'll be able to wait till the task you desire turns into to be had. Don't allow them to stick you in some thing you will not like. Take this recommendation from any person with enjoy.
