At the bank I worked at, as soon as you put the envelope in the slot, the atm would print your account information, date and time on it. Later, someone would pick up all the envelopes, verify the deposit inside and get it into the person's account. Some ATMs were serviced by our branch employees and we would save the envelopes for at least a year in case the customer had a dispute. Envelopes that had been kept a certain amount of time were taken by a professional document destruction company.

If the machine is serviced by another company they will balance the atm and make all deposits to the correct bank. They will handle everything. This sometimes can cause a delay in that deposit reflecting in your account. Not all Atm's are serviced each day either. Some banks continue to balance the ATM's daily, but due to security issues it is usually serviced by a armored truck. If you have questions it is best to ask your bank that the Atm is at. Hope this was helpful.
