I hate picking favorites, because it is unfair to hundreds of fine pieces and composers, but if you insist:

From the Classical era, Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata, opus 53.

From the Romantic, Chopin's Ballade in f minor. Brahms' Rhapsodies opus 79

Impressionist: Debussy "L'isle Joyeuse", Ravel "Gaspard de la Nuit".

"Neoclassic" Ravel's "Sonatina".

20th Century: Prokofiev Sonata #7, opus 87. Bartok Suite Opus 14

Kabalevsky Piano Concerto No. 2; 20th Century

I have listened to a lot of different composers and Dimitry Kabalevsky has left an vast impression. His music is dynamic and forcefull.

I, like Glinzek, feel a little agrieved by these kind of questions because the answer changes from day to day. However, he my take:
Baroque: The Goldberg Variations - J.S. Bach.
Classical: Piano Concerto No.27 - W.A. Mozart.
Sonata No.23 in F minor, Op.57 "Appassionata." - L. van Beethoven
Romantic: Intermezzos Op.117, No.s 1,2 & 3 - J. Brahms.
Modern: Piano Sonata No.5, Op.53 - A. Scriabin.
Neoclassical: Musical moment in B minor, Op.16 No.3 - S. Rachmaninov

Tchaikosvky's Piano Concerto # 1.
With a battle for dominance between piano and orchestra; IMO THE greatest EVER written.
Have heard thousands of times and still gives me chills.
