Early isn't really the right word, because it means that it came before it was expected. Early would be appropriate if you skipped grades, especially the ones directly preceding 12th.

There should not be a comma after never. "On arriving" is improper English.
To make it sound better, try this:
I did not expect it to arrive this early.

You evidently wish to say that you never expected something that happened, or was noticed, because you arrived early ( and ordinarily that would lead you to believe that it wouldn't have happened or been noticed ).
