Parts wise, stay with something from the 60's or early early 70's. Mustangs, Pontiacs, a few Chryslers, a 67 Galaxy 500 rag top is beautiful. Cars from the 40's and 50's are great looking, but other than the 55-57 Bel Air, parts may be hard to find. Check out eBay or autotrader. See if you can't find a copy of Hemming's Motor News (huge trader catalog).

My favorite has always been the '51 Merc I owned when I was young. Clark Kent drove one on the old Superman series back in the fifties. Beautiful car but durn few left and out of my price range. For $20K there's not a lot of classic drop tops out there that are in any kind of decent condition, but there are a few such as the Mustangs from the mid 60's and the chevy's from the 50's and 60's.

No doubt it would be a 55 chevy convertible. Preferably the blue-green and white, with a white top. That was my very first car that I owned back in the 60's and I loved it. Should never have given it up. They can be bought for 20 grand in very good condition.
