I admire both, but I really like Witten. Which one of them have a chance of becoming the next Einstein in your opinion?

There won't be another Einstein. That's not a meaningful target. The one who will eventually be recognized as an outstanding contributor to science will be the one, if any, whose theory turns out to be true. Currently, most of science's bet is with Witten. But I have a lot of respect for Lee Smolin, who also has serious reservations about the potential of string theory or M-brane theory, and wants to see more effort toward other approaches. Lisi's work deserves serious attention.

Of the two , I agree with you with Witten. But there are many others, like Stephen Hawkings, for example, that fit that bill as well.

Witten...

i don't know to much about physics, but string theory is pretty cool.

and what does M theory stand for anyways?
