Is this XP OS an original CD or is it somone elses' recovery CD ? If it's a recovery CD, then it may not work with your pc. It sounds like the CD you are trying to reformat with is missing at least 1 driver. It could be caused by a damaged CD (or just a dusty CD). Repeatedly inserting the CD and trying again may result in it working ( or it may be futile)> I would try it several times before giving up on it.

Did you actually go through the windows xp installation process? Is this a system restore disc from toshiba or a actual Windows XP cd?

If you actually formatted the hard drive with a windows XP disc and you're getting that message on the restart...It means it means the installation is corrupted. Try reformatting and installing again. If you get the message agian, chances are the windows xp disc is bad. Find a replacement and test it again. If you get it again it could be a bad hard drive.

If this is a system restore disc. Just pop it in and let it start up. make sure you go into your bios and set it to boot from disc. Otherwise it will just skip reading the cd first before it tries to load windows. It sounds like you've formatted and installed the OS but not sure considering your post. I'm not sure if you actually formatted or you were attempting to do it then this problem occurred before hand.

But yea...those are probably the issues. Hope it helps some.

The Toshiba satellite tv for pc P205-S7469 became outfitted for Vista ,and has no XP hardware help, so in case you get XP put in better than a million/2 of your hardware won't artwork, like sound/on the spot/etc. Why did you purchase a workstation with Vista in case you have been going to place in XP on it thats to no longer clever.
