i agree with what dalai lama said once: that we spent too much time trying to develop the mind instead of the heart.
what is your idea about this, what do you think is wrong in the united states?

We have become too greedy, apathetic and arrogant.
1) Greedy - We don't want to pay for anything. A tax hike is never a good thing. Let's keep running up the national debt. Let's keep buying cheap foreign goods.
2) Apathetic - Probably half of the people in this country don't know the name of the Vice President. We don't listen to the news. We just don't care about what's going on. We just care about our own little lives. We don't have enough people voting. And the majority of people who do vote don't understand the issues or what the candidates stand for.
3) Arrogance - Despite our ignorance (or perhaps because of it) we believe on some level we are better than the rest of the world. We don't even want to listen to other nations. But we are willing to go to war on the slightest pretext.

All nations, or any group of people, have errors. Compared to most of the history of the world, we have fortunately few. For one, we don't praise a Fuhrer.

I do agree with the Dalai Lama. But in this case, the reference is to know how to control self-power (heart), rather than just building power(mind).

When ever the US comes guns ablazing, the intent - or part of the intent - is to eventually help people. In Iraq, we are building schools for ALL children, and (trying) to stabilize the country. Yes, we destroyed much of the country and the motives for war are not entirely innocent, but the Iraqi people have a future without a dictator.

One train of thought I have on this is that people have become too complacent in the way our country is being run. We do not get involved as much as we should, we do not voice our opinions or shout " FOUL" enough at our elected officials. We criticize those who take a stand and protest for something they believe in. Whether I agree with their protests or not, these people are the 'movers and shakes' in our society. We all need to step up to the plate, and take what is rightfully ours. Our Civil Liberties have been trampled on, OUR Constitution destroyed, as President Bush put it, " ...its just a _oddamn piece of paper..". We allowed them to take from us without even so much as a word. We have lost touch, and we are letting the government rule us through fear.

Hmmm. I don't think thats exactly right. A lot of Americans have a lot of heart. We just disagree on the best way to do the right thing.

Nothing wrong with the United State's. The world just don't like us, never have and chances are never will. What kills me is the fact if something catastrophic happens in an another country, out comes the palm of an open hand asking us for money.
