I've never had to wear a uniform to school, and I like it that way.

My first thought was to wear smart casual clothes. But then I thought about my four year old going to school soon. I wonder if some kids would be ostracized because they couldn't afford name brand clothes. I agree, school uniforms would be boring.

Even after rethinking it, I would say smart casual dress clothes. I just want to teach my child that it is not the clothes that make a person cool, smart, etc.

Well i have never had to wear unifroms but i have a lot of different oppinions ..

Uniforms- half and half on this one.. if my school started a unifom policy then i think it would be good but also very badly .. the little good part is that other kids wouldn't tease the ones that couldn't afford the clothes that they might be able to.. The bad thing about uniforms would be that we wouldn't be able to express our individuality

So in a way im glad that we dont have uniforms cause i like to make my own style and everyone seems to like it so thats good .... but i dont think htta uniforms would be the end of the world for me :)

Dress codes... now these are a different story i Do think that shorts/ skirts should be a certain lengh and what not but i think it would be ok to wear tanktops....

with uniforms,at least no one could judge anyone for being different, but then no one is different and everyone just blends in with the crowd, which can be worse than standing out, especially during a time in one's life when self-expression is so important.

a dress code gives a little more personal freedom than a uniform, which can able kids to blend in or stand out as much as they'd like.

But i had smart casual clothing and i wouldn't have had it any other way. I mean, it was a mixed blessing in that it was good because kids got to be themselves and wear what they wanted, but it was bad because they were judged because of their clothes and were not only broken off into cliques (Goths, skaters, preps, etc), but could've been viewed differently by teachers as well. But i still believe that was a small price for Individuality.

Uggh, I wear uniforms and hate it. I'd be so much more comfortable in my own clothes. Plus, it really stinks when you have to wear a skirt during winter and you basically freeze your legs off. I'd definitely prefer having a dress code. Even a very strict one would be better. Smart casual clothing would be tops. But then everyone would be judging what you would wear.

Smart casual clothing. I would hate to wear a uniform to school. It would be boring to have a school where everyone looked exactly the same.

I was in private schools all of elementary through high school, and i loved having a uniform.
I didn't have to think about what i was going to wear that morning and it also meant nobody had to impress one another with their clothes!
