Why did you not like it?

its a exact replica (except color vs black and white) of the 1933 version.

They even got original props (not sure what scenes) for it.

the only king Kong i didnt like was the Jeff Briges 1976 one where its all about oil.

It's NOTHING like the original! When did you watch the 1933 version last? I think your memory is playing a lot of dirty tricks on you. They couldn't use many props since the gates were used in the burning of Atlanta scene in "Gone With the Wind". I'm not sure what they would have found to use, but I suppose it's possible that some things were reclaimed.

I actually cannot list all of the things that are wrong with the Peter Jackson version, including Ann being infatuated with Kong and doing tricks for him! They completely changed the sort of person Denham is in the original, making him a fumbling coward. That was unforgiveable! Denham was a brave, perhaps rash, adventurer who did not haul a camera through the jungles and make empty speeches! ARRRGH! I hated that!

I'm going to come back to this because I do have lots more to say about the film, which is in no way a replica of the original beyond the basics. Watch it again, then compare them.
