I would let him make up the work. You never know what his circumstances are at home. Give him credit for trying.

wow i am happy 4 u u have woke and seen the lite but it sounds like u have maybe let Ur teachers down several times now if if if this is the only time u have asked for a second chance and u had your parents talk to the teacher an ask him or her to rethink it then i would give u a second chance see u have to understand they will loose faith in u and so many other kids have told them the same old crap so whom are they to believe and are u going to run and tell all ur friends that they did give u a second chance and wind up getting the teacher in hot water? u need to understand people talk and there job could then be on the line so life can be a #itch and many times u will never ever ever receive a second chance it would highly depend on what i have had seen of your past and what i was seeing from u now if ~~~and i mean if i would even reconsider giving u another chance~~~now if u have your parents go in that will help but u better keep yourself straight now CZ there will never be a 3rd time i can tell u that 4 sure~~and it sounds like the school has dealt alto with u already let me ask u rethink this entire situation and u were the student would u let him have 1 more chance???GOOD LUCK AND KEEP STRAIGHT LIFE IS FOR SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE DONT BE A LOOSER

if its a first time occurance then yes-if i was a teacher-i would give you a second chance, however there are only so many second chances one can get, plus if the teacher doesn't feel you were paying attention you can always ask for extra work (while I was in High School - only two years ago - the teachers always had some kind of extra work you could do to bring your grade up). If the teachers are unwilling to let you make-up work then try asking for extra work to improve your grade-it shows to them your trying.

Most schools have policies regarding how late work can be made up after absences, and they typically take the cause of the absence into consideration.

If your school has a policy like this the teacher will not have much of a choice in the matter.

However, if the school doesn't, I would do what has already been said. Give him a second chance, and if he screws up again, it's his loss.

Congratulations.

if i were the teacher i would probably say no that he couldnt make up the the work from two weeks ago. he made a choice and unfortunatly he took a wrong path and in life you really don't get second chances, this is just a life lesson. however i wouldn't just let him fail either. if he was willing to put in the time and effort to work extra hard in class then i would pass him because then he's earned it.

If that student could basically prove that he was being honest and sincere. You know drug possession is a serious charge and you have bit off a large piece of proving yourself, especially, if you have had this problem before. You need to find a trustworthy mentor to go to the school and have a serious meeting.................Drug habits are hard to kick, so I have heard.........I really wish you well and I am serious. But do not try to snow them it will only backfire on you. When you lose your credibility it is hard to get it back.

Once you screw up it is difficult to regain the trust of others. It takes extra work and "seeing is believing" which means you will have to walk the talk. Go to class, ask what you can do to make up past work, extra credit etc. And lay off the drugs - they fry your brain and you could live homeless the rest of your life.

I am a retired teacher and I would give that person every opportunity and compliment him on turning his like around. Everyone deserves a second chance and a third or fourth or whatever is needed to save that person from self destruction.

Honestly, it's the student's responsibility to haul butt from that point on to get yourself back on track. You are honestly probably not going to get a good grade given what you've been through this term, and it's not his/her job to fix that for you. Chalk it up as an A+ in life experience, and do your best from here on out.

Honestly, if I could tell the student was being sincere with the request, then yes I would let him make up all the work, but would give him a time limit on it.
