I think you have that backwards. False POSITIVES are very rare, as pregnancy tests are designed to test a hormone you have in your system ONLY when pregnant. You can get a negative result and be pregnant, for some women it takes some time to build up enough hormones for the test to read them. Take another test in 2 days. If you still get a negative, and no period, call a doctor and schedule a blood test. Good luck.

False negatives are really common, simply because you may not have enough of the pregnancy hormone in your urine. Wait a couple days and take another test, and take it first thing in the morning. Chances are you didn't have a miscarriage. Miscarriages don't cause false negatives, they are usually what cause false positives. Also if you had a miscarriage you would be having your period. Stress can delay your period, stress from wondering if you're pregnant, holiday stress, etc.
Good luck, I hope you're pregnant!

It's possible to have false negitives. I know someone who was 5 month pregnant and still got false negative results. Wait about 1-2 weeks then try again or go to the doctor for an exam and test.

I am not sure where you read that false negatives are rare. They may be ...later in a pregnancy. However, in the beginning of a pregnancy the hormone levels aren't very high so some tests have a difficult time detecting it.
On the other hand stressing about trying to get pregnant can affect your hormones and change your cycle. Check in a few more days.

Go and get a blood test. These are almost always accurate...
You would know if you had a miscarriage because it usually appears as a late period, a heavier period than normal, or a positive pregnancy test followed by a heavy period later on.

The best advice i can give you is go and see your doctor and he she will be able to tell you weather or not you are pregnant.I really don't think that you had a miscarriage because there was no bleeding.Another thing that it call be is a phantom pregnancy. It's when you really want to become pregnant so much that your body thinks it is pregnant and that's when you can either skip a period or your period will stop. But go and see your doctor and find out for sure.
Good Luck!

the same thing happened to me! except i wasn't hoping to be preg. my period was 3 weeks late. i took a pt one afternoon and it was positive. it had a very faint second line. so the next morning (when the hormone is supposed to shoe up better) i took another one, and there was no result. even more, i started what i believed to be my period shortly after that. though it was shorter than normal. someone gave me the # 1800BETHANY. you should try it. and go to a planned parenthood. they do real tests for little or no cost

It could be that you ovulated late in your cycle. If you had ovulated later in your cycle it could make getting a positive test late and it could also delay your AF. I am currently 23 weeks pregnant, and it took me until i was almost 3 weeks late before I got a positive test. An u/s confirmed that I ovulated a lot later in my cycle. ~Kristin~
