I doubt that ironing will help. When you are knitting it in the first place, try alternating 1 row purl and then 1 row knit. Watch your tension ,keep it consistant, that is a biggie! Hope that helps!

If you lay a cloth like a hankerchief over the piece then iron on the cloth it won't burn the knitting.

yes, use a slightly damp dish towel.Put it on top of scarf before ironing it.Good to go!

put a more heat resistant cloth on it then iron the scarf it may help.

Yes if you use a t-towel that you've dampened 1'st and then iron on top.

try ironing it on the coolest setting
