actions of people within that same party? Every intelligent person knows that one cannot judge the character of many based on the acts of a few.

I am a conservative and I have conservative and liberal friends. We all agree on global warming. It ticks me off when people are so naive that they stop believing that people are individuals.

In political discourse honesty and sense of proportion are often lost on all sides. not necessarily because everyone is a liar though that maybe part of the reason but because it's tempting to loose sense of proportion when you're trying to convince people about issues you care very much about.

Your point is very valid and essential. People are individuals, no one is the stereotype many of us are so much against.
Another great question

At first I was going to agree with you, then as I was writing this I realized that it is the individuals that make up the character of the party. How many hacks does it take before the party is corrupt? One, two a dozen? What if the one bad seed is also the head of the party in question and has the support of his party? Wouldn't that make the party corrupt? I think so.

I both agree AND disagree (I sound like Hillary. Yrrrg)

I agree 100% that no one party is absolutely corrupt while some other party is more so honest with their dealings.

My disagreement is simple, Bush, Cheney, and others ARE corrupt. They have lied, exposed a CIA agent, and started a war. The depths of their corruption is imeasurable. My issue is, and always will be, with those who support these men, and people like them, simply because they have a D or R by their names.

It isn't so much which party is more corrupt. It is which party supporters are willing to stand behind individuals that ARE as openly corrupt, as the universe is vast. The power of political crime lords lay within their base of support from common people. Regardless of party, with all of the money in the world, if common people did not support them, they would be powerless to wreak havoc as many of them currently do.

basing an entire party as corrupt is wrong. however, when it comes to views, it's ok to say, for example, "conservatives prefer small government", because the majority do, instead of pandering to the PCers out there and saying "some conservatives may prefer what may seem to some as a small government" is non-sensical. i've had people ridicule me before when i've said that conservatives don't believe in global warming.

"What is the point of characterizing any one political party as corrupt based on the? actions of people within that same party? Every intelligent person knows that one cannot judge the character of many based on the acts of a few."

This is exactly the principle behind polls... that you CAN make predictions about people based on a representative sampling. And in the case of the Repub admin... that sampling can sometimes be sizable. ...Depending on what one is trying to determine.

Of course. :)

I'm sorry, you are right to a degree.

BUT,

it's the dems who say they will vote for Hillary based upon her party affiliation, knowing she is not good for this country that meet with my utter disgust.

And, then, there's the libs who say they would vote for Hillary because she's a woman that are completely loony - no doubt.

Then, there's the dems who say they support Hillary because she's a scoundrel and they think that's what it takes to run are nation that, in my mind, should clearly be labeled sociopathic personalities.

Then, there's the libs who say they support Hillary because they've read her books and naively buy into her lies.

Other that those dems and libs, I have no problem with libs an/or dems and respect our differences.

It's funny,

The last administration had :

38 indictments
33 convictions

And they say it wasn't corrupt. Even though it had more members convicted than any administration in history.

Nixon had 30, reagan had 32.

The Bush administration has had, one indictment, one conviction.

Even the Carter adminstration wasn't so clean.

I agree with your statement. However, it would be difficult to deny that the current administration is corrupt. There have scandals on an almost daily basis.
I'm not saying all Republicans are corrupt, but I am saying the president and his cronies are.

you end up on the wrong side of a debate and get thoroughly thrashed or what?
You sure are sounding far more moderate than you used to.

not that I'm complaining, just pointing it out.
