Actually my friend you should always make eye contact. See as a business owner I have found that when people realize that you are looking them in the eye they tend to be more relaxed. Also it has been my experience that when I am looked in the eyes by an individual I tend to respect the person more. Now mind you this is only the case when actually intiating conversations or vice versa. On a side note you should consider that the stranger may be a best friend or even a resource that'll lead to a better job or meeting of a new person(i.e. wife, friend, etc.) Just a thought for thoses who look at the floor instead of the person they meet.
P.S Don't ever think your better then the other person either(because I have a friend who may not dress great but I must admit I like his Ferrari) Just a Thought...................

Yes, it's important in reading people, I always make eye contact with people. You can tell a lot about people based on whether or not they can hold eye contact with you.

Yes. I am not easily intimidated.I think it is better to appear confident rather than looking like some one who would give in to someones attempt to harm you.
