I keep wondering what the point of anything is. I don't mean just the point of school or my purpose, I mean the point of ANYTHING. Seriously, what is the point of the world and people and even the universe, why does anything matter, or even exist? EVERYONE will die eventually, so what is the point of anything, why does anything even exist? I don't understand why there is even anything, such as the world and the universe, but it's such a weird thought because otherwise, there would be nothing. Like absolutely nothing. WEIRD.... Hmm, I wonder what that would be like... Do any of you get what I'm saying?? By the way, I'm not just crazy or anything...

For the person who asked, I have no religion and I don't believe in god.

Well, even if I did believe in god, I think that my question still stands. What is the point of god then, in the end? I understand that if you believe in god this is a really hard concept to understand, but in the end, what is the point of ANYTHING?

The simple answer: we don't really know what the point is, and there's no real reason why we should.

Leaving aside religious explanations, we find that we are simply complex biological phenomena evolved and evolving on a planet that happened to be conducive to such occurrences. We happen to have evolved in a direction and to a point at which we are conscious of our selves and our interactions with others. We think, we communicate, and we come up with questions like this one.

We don't really know (or, if you believe it, won't really know until later) the answers, and there is no reason we should. But that's because we are the ones that come up with the notion that there ought to be a point in the first place.

What you do about it is up to you. Many of us have adopted or developed some sort of beliefs that address the question. Frankly, I recommend doing so. You've got this life, and it's pretty much all you've got, so treat it as a gift and try to make the most of it. If you're wondering what the point is, then maybe it's time to decide how you'd like to live that life, and make that the point as far as you're concerned.

You don't even have to agree with anybody else about what the point is. (In fact, I don't believe any two people CAN really agree completely about anything important, unless one of them just stops thinking.) But that just means the point doesn't have anything to do with making anybody else's selves similar to your self, so maybe it has to do with enjoying the differences.

You don't even have to believe that your beliefs are, in any objective sense, true. The whole truth of the universe is far too much for our little brains to handle (since it includes the entire contents of not only our own brains, but all the others, as well as a heck of a lot of other stuff). But you get to choose the beliefs that make you the kind of person you want to be. You get to decide what the point is, as far as you're concerned. That's a pretty good deal, really.

I have been trying to write this without any particular ties to my own religious beliefs, but just so you know, I am a Christian. Christian theologians have been trying to deal with this for a very long time, and most of what they come up with is either circular reasoning or paradoxical. (Christian non-theologians often come up with fairly idiotic variations on "because we say so!")

Again, there is no reason to expect that we are built to handle the whole truth of anything; we just work out enough to believe that it gets us by. Feel free to take ideas from religions you know about; feel even more free to sort out what doesn't work for you, and pick what you want. Of course, I'll be happy if you try something similar to what I believe, but I'll also be happy if you find something different, as long as it works for you and doesn't interfere with other people making their own choices.

But I recommend not trying to convince yourself that you KNOW it all, and have the ultimate truth. We're really not built for that; we're built to make the best of what we've got.

When I was 10 years old I chased a rainbow one time just trying to see if I could ever reach it. But it was always far away from me.

When I was 32 the sun was out and I walked by a sprinkler and saw a rainbow walk with me as I walked.

And I realized that the point I was reaching toward back then was really already there but I did not realize it at 10 years old.

The point of anything is what you make it out to be. The point of school will be what you share with others. You may not have seen it but the ones you are with and share knowledge to will see the value in what you learned in school.

That is what all of life experience is. To share and to have it shared back to us.

There is no point. There just is.
Since there is also no point in contemplating the unknowable, there is opportunity to have fun and even turning poison to medicine by enjoying the challenges.
Most concept sets are boxes. Dissolve the box.

Someone else had a similar question...
Why bother eating? You will only get hungry again.
Why bother drinking? You will only thirst again.
Why bother taking a bath/shower? You will only get dirty and smelly again.

Life is mostly boring; movies make everything look exciting, but it is not. Most people spend most of their time doing mundane things like going to a job, eating, sleeping, batheing, etc.
We were created; nothingness does not exist. So, we need to make the most of our lives, live for the good and try to forget the evil.

The Point of life is to create a Point. You have the choice of either being another mindless sheep, or more. If you follow someone else's point you're still a sheep. Just because you haven't decided on anything yet doesn't mean you won't have one. Just be patient.

What's the point?. I always like to think that having existed is pretty cool. Whether a specific purpose is clear, it's an endless debate.

Because you have no religion and don't believe in God that is why you would ask this question and anyone who believes in God could not answer your question adequately
