It's not an age, it's a feeling. My best friend goes to the casino with her husband, three or four days a week, she plays cards three days a week. Does her housework and laundry. Goes on great vacations and cruises with me. She shops and does lots of errands. She and her husband are still very much in love. She is 74. She's not old.

Okay, the prime years are the fifties. You're really a kid until you're fifty, unless you marry and have children (that's aging, particularly for mothers) Then you get the prime years all during the fifties, when you're at your most powerful, but after sixty it's really over. You're really really not a young person anymore. You can do things just as well, but not as fast. But you can certainly have a youthful outlook. When a person says "Oh, well," and lets his belly slump, that person is oh-welled, or "old".

It's different for everyone I would think. I'm a musician and I've always been current musically, until my early to mid 40's. That's when Hip-Hop killed alt-rock. There's only one alt-rock station here in my area and there's easily 6 or more hip-hop/rap stations. Like someone said earlier, when the music of the younger generation sounds like noise to you, then you're old.

Also my energy level changed pretty dramatically at 45. I enjoy more sedentary things now where I used to love physical things. Things like weight training, riding my mountain bike and playing basketball. It sounds like hard work to me now, not fun at all.

You become old the day you get to know the meaning of the word 'OLD' and accept it.

The day you think you're "old." Whatever age you are on that day, that's when you become "old."

i would say under 75 is considered young but over 75 is old.
keep in mind we all age from the day of birth until we die.
everyday we age and there isn't anything we can do about it but enjoy life before it ends.

i thought i would feel old at 30 but i'm feeling better than i ever did. i got a few miles on the clock (speaking experience wise) and i'm a bit wiser, still youthful looking and finding life exciting. i still have a long way to go but ask when i'm 40 and i don't know, i might answer differently.

i suppose you are as old as you feel...lol. (that old cliche)

That's a good question, I never thought about that. I think it's down to how old you feel
