think it was recorded by Phil Harris. was about a mounteneer who felt so mighty brave he took his trusty gun and went into a dark dark cave. the reason for his venture was a story that he'd heard about a bad ferocius creature called the jabberwocky bird.
there were several different verses and in the end the ugly jabberwocky became the prettiest of girls. would like to find trhe lyrics and it was recorded on a 78 rpm record.

I don't know whether this is the one you were thinking of? It is however, the ORIGINAL.

Never heard the song, the Jabberwocky is something from a book -- Also remember something about a "foo" bird that was pretty reprehensible.

remember the song from my childhood. 50+ years later I still remember it and somewhere I still have a copy of it. not many people have ever heard of it.
