Zn(2+)(aq) + 2e− → Zn(s) Eº = −0.76V
Cu(2+)(aq) + 2e− → Cu(s) Eº = +0.34V
According to Nernst equation, we have:
E = Eº - (0.0591/n)*log([Zn(2+)]/[Cu(2+)])
= (0.34+0.76) - (0.0591/2)*log(0.10/0.40)
= 1.12 (V)
