10 gallons isn't large enough for your future 6+ inch CAE... Also, it will eat any fry it can, and as it matures, adult Guppies will also be on the menu... CAEs really aren't very good fish to keep due to their progressive aggression with age... If you want something for your tank to eat algae, look into 3-5 Oto Cats or a few Mystery Snails... Contact me if you have any questions...

i'd not upload any extra fish. Ghost, amano, cherry, and some different shrimp all eat algae and are impressive algae eaters. bear in suggestions that no animal is going to be able to thoroughly sparkling the algae off the wall, and there'll continually be a skinny eco-friendly residue. it really is no longer a mission for your fish, only a beauty mission. Get an algae scraper once you're at it, and once you do your weekly water replace take a minute to scrape each and each and every of the algae off the glass. also, increasing the frequency of your water ameliorations might want to help decrease algae improve.

I have a Chinese algae eater (golden colour) in my adult male guppy tank. He/she is about a year old and 4 inches long. I've had no problems so far. I suggest you leave things be, just keep an eye out for any aggressive behaviour and deal with it when and if it happens.

Chinese algae eater is probably no great threat to healthy adult guppies... Afraid the same would not be true for baby guppies.
We have always used "oto" algae eaters in breeding guppy tanks. ..... Otocinclus Cats, or Dwarf Sucking Catfish Otocinclus affinis
We would do atleast 8 in a 55 gal tank.
