I took US government last year as a class. Well the ex-president can vote for anyone he likes but here is the trick. If he wants to rerun for president, he must only be in office for four years which is what we call one term. If he has been in office for 8 years then he cant be re-elected. This means if he has done two terms he can't become president anymore and has to step down. So basically in 2008 Bush has to step down and he has no option. Unless he changes the law and that is one thing that is impossible to do at this stage of time for him.

The President is a citizen and can vote. Of course s/he can only vote for the candidates that are on the ballot.

Anybody has the right to vote if they are a citizen, so they are allowed to vote. In other countries, like Australia it is compulsory to vote if you are over 18 years of age.

Yes, as long as they are registered to vote. Bush is registered to vote in Texas near his ranch.

He can vote for anyone he wants. On the ballot or write in candidate.
