Why do Republicans hate paying taxes... while they seem to love getting fleeced by corporate America? They pay way too much for health insurance, pharmaceutical drugs, the Iraq war... and a whole lot of other things, and they're just fine with that. Willingness to get taken to the cleaners seems to have become an act of patriotism. Good Americans support capitalism by getting gouged... and bowing to the corporations who are doing the gouging.

But they hate to pay more in taxes, even if it means saving money.

Why?

Because, when you are a group of elites (as the Democratic Party is as well), you are going to look out for the interests of those who keep you in power. For Republicans, this is Big Pharma, Big Oil, and Big Weapons, on top of the corporate well-to-do and the NASCAR dads that follow them. It isn't a matter of them paying more and getting less. You might say, "Hey, we're nearing the trillion dollar mark on the cost of the Iraq war. But even oil companies have only made a few billion out of raping the Iraqi oilfields! Isn't this unprofitable?" The answer is yes for you, but no for them. They will gladly spend 20,000 of your dollars (what the Iraq war would cost every 4 person household, if were actually paid for it, instead of just piling on debt for our grandchildren) to get a thousand dollars for them. It's total profit as far as they are concerned.

People go along with this because they have either adopted the dominant ideology of their culture or are ignorant of the history of the U.S. government and capitalism in general. The "liberal vs conservative media" dichotomy is completely false. It is all corporate media, and this necessarily, as a means of protecting the bottom line and not alienating their profit source (ie- their audience) will exclude uncomfortable things, like real, longer than 30-second discussions of imperialism, or an oil economy, or anything of depth and importance.

I pay $47 a month for a family health care plan. Pay all my taxes, work hard for a living, don't make six figures but own a house and my wife and I raise two children, and I am a republican. Seems to me like I'm not rich, but doing well and feel like the economy of the country is what I make of it. But, then I don't sit around waiting for handouts or free healthcare knowing how that will cripple the infrastructure. What else you got?

it's like they are a group of dirty dealers and only respect others that can out "dirty deal" them...

and it's horrible when the government comes in and tries to cut down on their dirty deals...

dirty dealing is the American way to them...

why, because they only seem to respect amoral power... when it comes to actual actions... a social Darwinism... and have no respect for the weak and seem to believe they can't die fast enough for the betterment of the society...

ironically enough, they hold up Christianity as the group religion...

ENRON is a golden example... if you don't believe me... Republicans SUPPORTED what happened there for YEARS and fought tooth and nail to stop any "regulation"... only after billions of stolen dollars from Americans did it all finally "hit the fan"...

and there is a middle ground between complete communism and complete capitalism (believe it or not Republicans)... neither have ever worked on their own...

What?
I suppose you enjoy paying taxes?

I get military retirement and Social security disability, and guess what? That's right i pay taxes on it.

You think we pay too much for health care now? Wait until it becomes socialized and you are paying for the guy down the hill to have his 7th out of wedlock baby, because he would rather party and chase women than get a job.

As far as corporate America, its a damned shame that they are allowed to provide goods , services, and Jobs and still make a profit. I guess that's just UN-American.

Government is not about the greater good. It's about what is good to the very few. Our leaders treat it like their own little toy.

No. I am not a republican but are you ok with asking your slanted questions? You do realize that the Democrats also awarded profitable government contracts to the chosen companies who donated to their campaigns, right?
