I have a Canadian 1853 one cent wreath penny. on the front is Queen Victoria and it says Victoria Dei Gratia Regina/Canada on it. On the back is the maple leaf wreath and inside that is another beaded circle. is it worth anything?

well, the second to last digit on the year is almost faded, it might be an 8 or a 9 even.

Are you sure it's a 1853? The only coin I can find that fits your description is a 1859. Which was the first coin ever released in Canada. If you figure it out re post your question and I will try to help you find it's value.

The Canadians were heavily opposed by the British Government from the very start, but overcame this with the act of 1853. This act finally established a currency system of pounds-shillings-pence and dollars-cents-mills, but no coins were ever struck under this act.

The beginning of Canada's decimal coinage soon followed with the issues of 1858-1859.

Someone already said it can not be 1853 for the cent started in 1858 and it can not be a 1883 for none were minted that year so that leaves 1893 with a mintage around 2,000,000. It is not a rare or scarce date and if you have trouble reading a digit in the date then it is a low grade coin. Value is around .25-.50 cents. If the bust of Victoria shows an older person it is 1893. She should have a smooth chin but a repressed upper lip.
