If marbles are made of glass, how come they don't break easily when we drop them?

Because they're made of glass, it seems like they should be easy to bust or ship.
The thing about it is that they're spherical. It's the most stable structure that we know to use. When pressure is put on one point, it's equally distributed to the whole thing. Anything with a flat edge has less stability from where the pressure will be applied. It's why it's easier to break a board than kill a ball.
It's just more structurally sound.

Marbles do break over time, but they are made durable by the stuff they put inside them .. usually they aren't just plain glass.. and if you look closely many have chips in them.
