I'm having a problem with my computer. It has an extremely small hard drive (just 18.6 GB, insteadof something like 60 or 100 GB) and it only has 160 MB of space left. I've been uninstalling programs and deleting files like crazy, but still the free space keeps decreasing. Is this the work of a virus? What should I do?

If it helps at all, my computer is a 5 year old IBM Thinkpad.

PLEASE HELP ME. I don't know what's wrong with my machine.

First of all make sure you do not have any malware in the form of viruses or spyware. Run your anti virus and anti spyware programs in order to clear out any beasts.
If you do not have any protection these are available for free:

It's hard to say exactly what is going on based on your post.
You can get a nice idea of what files are taking up what kind of space by using a tooled called spacemonger available here:
http://www.sixty-five.cc/sm/v1x.php
that will tell you in a graphical way where your bulky files are

You should do a defrag, and a surface scan. you may have bad sectors. if you are running any file sharing software, you should turn it it all off for a while.

Have you deleted the cookies and temporary files? They add up quickly and can eat up space. Also do a defrag on it to free up blank space. Alot of computers hang on to all this crap and it just takes up to much space.
You might want to consider upgrading your hard drive to something with a little more space. You can check on Craigs list or E-bay to find them cheaper. you can also request one in the craigs list site.
Another thing, Watch your local Salvation army and thrift stores for a similar computer, you may be able to pick one up very cheap and use it's parts to enhance your own.
Good Luck.
