Does "Ziggy Stardust" by David Bowie count? Because that song is neatly packaged audio kickass as far as I'm concerned. So that will be my pick. Second place goes to "David Watts" covered by the Jam (original by the Kinks on Something Else) and third to "Richie Dagger's Crime" by the Germs, and because I'm a long winded gas-bag that doesn't like to write succinct answers, here's ten or twenty more:

"Jimmy Jazz" by the Clash is a nice one.

"Baba O'Reily" is pretty good.

"Johnny Hit And Run Pauline" by X is definitely classic, although the vocals occasionally get on my nerves. But it's great punk bordering on rockabilly.

"Billy's Third" and "Jimmy Jimmy" by the Undertones are both excellent.

I doubt anyone's heard of these but "Gordon" by the Cravats and "Howard Hughes" by the Tights are both really great, if very obscure.

"Sympathy For The Devil" assuming we all consider said devil to be a male.

"Johnny Was" by Bob Marley although I prefer the Stiff Little Fingers cover. Both are top notch.

"Telegram Sam" by T.Rex of course.

How can we forget "Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry?

"Jean Is Dead" by the Descendents. Is Jean a guy's name? I think it is, never met one though.

Edit: "Hey Joe" as done by the Leaves is undercredited, my favorite version of the song by far.

Reedit: "Romeo & Juliet" by Michael & The Messengers is a great song that I consider a defining song of garage psychedelia.

How about David Bowie's Song For Bob Dylan? Or Elton John's Levon...both are great.

Edit: I didn't realize Levon had already been said. Then I'll add Crazy Man Michael by Fairport Convention.
